Table-scapes

What’s your most important wedding day factor?

As a wedding planner, I’ve seen it all. However, over the years one of the things I have come to love is the idea of detailed table scapes. Personally, I absolutely love dark wood farm tables as the base and rustic or romantic decor as accents. Don’t get me wrong, round tables are just a nice, however, let’s just say the rustic farm table look is my fav!

Simple is elegant and beautiful! Don’t forget that, because it truly is easy to forget when you’re in the midst of envisioning your decor wants. Sometimes couples like to overcrowd their tables and they end up looking “too busy” which then takes away from the look they were going for (never once have I ever had a couple who wanted their tables to look too busy).

Not so surprisingly, yet still surprisingly, so far the most beautiful tablescapes I have seen are completely DIY. Perhaps the rental company didn’t have the charger or particular plate that you wanted…Target, TJ Max, Ross, and Soha living. These stores are absolutely perfect for wedding tablescape decor. Me personally, along with a handful of my brides were able to find the perfect accents and decor at these places only to make the most beautiful tablescapes thus far.

I don’t believe that there is such a thing as the perfect accents. You may never know what looks best unless you try and put them together.

Follow these 6 steps to create the perfect tablescape:

  1. Don’t be afraid to use something other than flowers. Have you tried a pineapple? Grapes? or what about a cake for the entire table?

  2. You can never go wrong with floral + greenery but it’s important to use what’s in season. Why? Your florist may not be able to get the right flowers or if they can, it will more than likely be extremely expensive.

  3. It’s not important if everything is the same color. You want to accent your tablescape rather than blend it all together. Accent does not mean match. For instance, can you imagine a gold tablecloth with gold votives and gold chargers? It would be a mess.

  4. Use various candle + votive sizes and styles. You can even get away with using LED candles rather than regular ones especially if you’re in an outdoor setting. But there’s nothing like a candle light accent when the lights dim. Feel free to use tapers, votives, and tea lights if you’d like.

  5. Mix old and new. Take a drive to your local antique shop and dive in. Find old chests, dinnerware, and bottles that you can scatter throughout your perfect tablescape. Who doesn’t love antiques?

  6. Let your surroundings inspire you. Getting married near the mountains or on the beach? Let nature inspire your color palette and the little accents. There’s nothing like the natural beauty that surrounds you. Add details that accent nature around you. You’ll be glad you did!
